Recently, Shandong Provincial People's Government held a reception to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and conferred the “Honorary Citizen of Shandong Province” and “Ambassador of Friendship of the People of Shandong Province” at the Golden Hall of Shangdong Hotel. Lin Wu, Party Secretary of Shandong Province, and Zhou Naixiang, Deputy Secretary and Governor of Shandong Province attended the ceremony. Ewe Hong Tat, President of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman also attended and won the honorary title of “Ambassador of Friendship of the People of Shandong Province”, and Wu Canrong, Chairman of the Malaysian Chinese Cultural Centre won the honorary title of “Honorary Citizen of Shandong Province”.
It is reported that, the title of “Ambassador of Friendship of the People of Shandong Province” and the “Honorary Citizen of Shandong Province” was established by the Shandong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. The title is the highest award given to foreigners in our province. It aims to award foreign friends who adhere to long-term friendship with China, actively promote the exchanges and cooperation between Shandong and the world, and have a high reputation or influence in Shandong and their own countries.
