On the evening of July 28, the China-ASEAN Mayors’ Forum＆Conference For Collaborative Innovation and Development opened in Dezhou.
At the opening ceremony, Cai Xianjin and Che Bin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dezhou University, unveiled the Secretariat of the Expert Committee on Local Cooperation in the Yellow River-Mekong River Basin; Yuan Yangang and Che Bin unveiled the Grand Canal-ASEAN Institute of History and Culture.
There were several sub-topics under the Mayors’ Forum. Our school undertook the sub-topics on the process and prospect for local participation in China-ASEAN cooperation, and at the same time held the "Yellow River-Mekong River Local Cooperation Lecture Series II - Laos Theme". Our school Invited honorable participants such as: Ma Yong, director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences and China (Kunming) Institute of South and Southeast Asia, Yu Xiangdong, director of the Vietnam Institute of Zhengzhou University, vice president of the Yellow River Institute of Science and Technology, Fan Zuojun, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of Guangxi University, Liu Zhiqiang, Dean of the School of Oriental Languages and Cultures of GuangDong University of Foreign Studies, Liao Minsheng, Vice President of Hainan Tropical Ocean College, Guo Yanjun, Director of the Institute of Asian Studies of the Foreign Affairs University and Dean of the National Security College. All honorable participants and experts made special reports. The foreign affairs offices of the eight provinces and districts along the Yellow River, the relevant departments of Shandong Province, the foreign affairs offices of 16 cities and members of the Shandong Think Tank Alliance attended the Forum remotely.
It is understood that the China-ASEAN Mayors’ Forum is an important event under the framework of the ASEAN Expo, which aims to promote exchanges and dialogues between the leaders of cities in China and ASEAN countries. This was the first time the forum had been held in northern part of China, outside of Guangxi province. It used national-level high-quality platform resources to graft Dezhou City, high-quality cooperation with ASEAN countries, strive to create a city brand of "Join Dezhou in Cooperation with ASEAN " and strengthen exchanges with domestic cities. It is of great significance to enhance the influence of Dezhou city.
Taking the forum as an opportunity, our school will continue to explore ways of cooperating with ASEAN universities and research institutions, give full play to the role of the ASEAN Research Center as a think tank, serve national strategies, regional economy and social development.
