On the afternoon of May 28, the School of Literature and Journalism and the Office of Scientific Research invited Wolfgang Kubin, a well-known European sinologist, professor and doctoral tutor of the University of Bonn, Germany, to hold an academic lecture in the lecture hall on the fourth floor of Houde Building. More than 260 teachers and students from majors such as TCSOL, Chinese Language and Literature, Journalism attended the seminar.

Professor Wolfgang Kubin gave an academic report entitled "Image of China in European Sinology". The report centered on the definition of European and Western concepts, the similarities and differences between Sinology and Chinese studies, the relationship between European Sinology and Theology, the research differences between European Sinology and American Sinology, and the relationship between hermeneutics and the image of China. The research methods, themes and development history of European sinology and the history of Sino-European relations over the past 400 years were introduced. Kubin's love for Chinese culture and history has constructed the great image of China in European sinology from the perspective of first-class sinologists. The report provided a feast for the teachers and students of School of Literature and Journalism to look back on Chinese culture and history with an extra-territorial eye, and raised the cultural confidence of teachers and students.

In the morning, Mr. Kubin came to the conference room of the School of Literature and Journalism and had a discussion with teachers of TCSOL. He introduced the current situation and development trend of Sinology in Europe and America, and encouraged everyone to learn foreign languages and spread Chinese culture.
