From July 14th to 28th, students from six schools (including the School of Economics and Management), led by staff of the Student Affairs Office, went to the UK to participate in the summer overseas study tour project named "Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the Perspective of Global Creative Economy" , which was co-sponsored by the School of Business and China Center, University of Chester. By the 30th, all the students have successfully completed all the tasks of their study tours and returned home safe and sound.

From the perspective of creative economy, this study tour project takes a combination of core theoretical courses, professional knowledge practice and British cultural experience to achieve students' innovation and entrepreneurial awareness and ability improvement. The students listened to lectures on "Contemporary Corporate Strategy and Decision", "Financial and Technological Innovation", "Innovation and Entrepreneurship", and "Enterprise Brand and Reputation Strategy". They visited the production bases of Land Rover and Jaguar Group, which are internationally renowned multinational companies, and Manchester Media City, which is the world's first sustainable community recognized by the British Building Performance Evaluation System, and conducted field study and research on their operation and management model. They also traveled to London, Liverpool, Oxford, Manchester, Cambridge and other cities to experience the impact of historical heritage and cultural richness on innovation and entrepreneurship ideas and concepts. In the end, the students reported their learning outcomes in the forms of individual work and group presentations. They received Course Completion Certificates issued by Professor Phil Harris, who is Dean of the School of Business, University of Chester, President of the Westminster Institute of Marketing and Public Affairs, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Bachelors.

The study tour enabled students to experience the teaching mode, school life and history and culture of the UK. They had a deeper understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship in an immersive English environment, broadened their international perspective, improved their English level, and aroused their enthusiasm in study. Our students have been highly praised by China Centre of the University of Chester for their excellent academic performance, good overall quality and self-management ability. In the future, they will become not only the experiencers of education and teaching, but also communicators and promoters of cultural exchanges.

The summer overseas study tour is an important measure taken by our university to enhance the internationalization of talent training. To do it well in 2019, the Office of International Exchange & Cooperation, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Youth League Committee worked together to organize and carry out the study tour program in its application, publicity, selection of outstanding students, procedures for going abroad, pre-departure education and training, student education management services during study tours, etc. In the future, the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation will further integrate resources, enrich the connotations of exchanges and cooperation with well-known foreign universities, actively expand overseas study bases, and provide students with more study tour platforms of better quality.
