On March 19th, Professor Wang Lixin, a PhD supervisor of Comparative Literature and World Literature at the School of Literature of Nankai University, and dean of the School of Chinese Language and Culture, was invited to our university for academic exchanges.

In the morning, Professor Wang Lixin had a discussion with teachers of the School of Literature in the School's conference room. He gave a lot of constructive suggestions and guidance on discipline construction, specialty construction, and project application.

In the afternoon, Professor Wang Lixin gave an academic report entitled "Similarities, Differences and Dialogues between Chinese and Jewish Literature and Cultural Traditions" for the teachers and students of the School of Literature in the Lecture Hall 347 of Bowen Building. His report started with the significance of the comparison between Chinese culture and Jewish culture and covered multiple aspects, such as history, religion, customs, and literature. From a comparative perspective, he examined the similarities and differences between Chinese and Jewish culture. The lecture had both macro summaries and many specific details. Wang Lixin put forward that the similarities between Chinese and Jewish traditions were superficial, while the differences between them were deep and essential. On this basis, he proposed that during cross-cultural communication, we should keep the China's stance: we try to understand the other correctly for the purpose of telling our own story, which is also the premise and condition of our cultural confidence.

After the report, Wang Lixin interacted with the teachers and students of the School of Literature on issues, such as how to write a good literary review and how to deal with the problems, such as phenomenon of contemporary writers being affected by European and American literature. The report lasted nearly three hours, and more than 250 teachers and students from the School of Literature and Journalism attended it.
